Mountaineers Cascade Classic Peaks

The (Seattle) Mountaineers provide their members Peak Pin Awards upon completion of selected climbs. Their "Cascade Classic Peaks" lists 18 peaks in the North Cascades. The Everett Mountaineers recognize eight North Cascades peaks as their "Classic Eight Peaks". Seven of these eight peaks are included in the Mountaineers Cascade Classic Peaks, but Mount Challenger is an addition to the mix.
I was able to climb most of these peaks with the Chemeketans as part of the Eighteen Major Northwest Peaks and the Washington Niners projects, augmented with other North Cascade climbs led by Bill Saur over several years.
We were fortunate to have climbed Dome Peak on our Ptarmigan Traverse in 1999 -- it seemed much more pleasant to combine the climb with the traverse and then descend the Bachelor Creek and Downey Creek Trails than to fight one's way up those neglected trails and ford Bachelor Creek just to climb Dome Peak.
