Route: Cottonwood and Cougar Creek Trails
Start at the Cottonwood Trailhead near Cottonwood Meadow
Lake and follow this trail 1.0 mile until it crosses Cougar Creek and
intersects an abandoned road. Follow this road (now Cougar Trail) upstream
along Cougar Creek 1.5 miles where it intersects another road. Cross this
road and follow yet another road leading higher along the edge of a clearing
for 0.2 mile where an obvious trail leads left. You can continue on this
road 2.2 miles to the summit (recommended for horses), but the trail is
shorter. The trail crosses the road in two places high on the peak and
summits at a former lookout site after 1.1 mile.
